There will be no switch on event at Mousehole Harbour this year for pandemic reasons but the lights will still be erected as usual. The website reads: "A "Soft Switch On" will be followed instead, whereby the various displays in and around the village will be lit as and when they are ready. It is anticipated that all displays will be completed and lit by mid-December."
7,000 lights will illuminate the harbour. The lights were first started in 1963 by local artist Joan Gillchrest who strung up some coloured bulbs along the quay to make it look more festive at Christmas. Since then local carpenters and volunteers have helped build the display, and now it is a delight for residents and an attraction for visitors far and wide.
